I apologize last week’s blog was missed. Unfortunately, I was sick and needed some extra TLC and down time. Now that I am back up and running this week, Ebb & Flow Healing is excited to walk you through the third eye chakra. This chakra is my personal favorite as it has always been quite strong for me. We have also included some great home suggestions for you to play with at the end, so continue reading and enjoy.

Main Characteristics

The Sanskrit word for the third eye chakra is ajna. This chakra is the seat of our intuition. It is often referred to as the brow chakra. Our third eye controls our thinking, wisdom, and psychic gifts. Our conscious and subconscious beliefs also lie here. The brow is a highly spiritual and guiding chakra. The brow chakra’s color is indigo or deep blue. You will find your third eye in the middle of your forehead just above and in between your eyes.

Third Eye Chakra and Health

The third eye governs the pineal and pituitary glands. Our endocrine and nervous system are also ruled by the brow chakra. When this chakra is unbalanced you may experience chronic headaches, eye problems, sinus issues, or nightmares. Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), focus/memory issues, and sleep disorders also may indicate the third eye chakra needs some work. Ask yourself the following questions. Do you tend to ignore your intuition? Are you overly intellectual? Do you experience regular nightmares? Is it hard to concentrate and focus? If you answered yes to any of the above questions your third eye most likely needs some extra love and attention.

Home Work

Now that you know some signs indicating a third eye imbalance, let’s explore how you can calm and clear this chakra. We will give you suggestions for the best crystals, essential oils, and activities that are most beneficial for your brow chakra. You may find that crystals of deep blue or purple color are quite useful. Some examples are fluorite, amethyst, and indigo tourmaline. By pairing these stones with essential oils such as passion flower or papaya, you can increase the vibrational frequency for your third eye chakra. Not to sound repetitive but indigo or deep blue fabrics or colored lights are the best colors to use when working on this chakra. Let’s not forget about yoga poses. The best poses for the third eye chakra are the dog face down and the plough poses.

Meditation is especially important for the third eye chakraHowever, the most important thing you can do for your brow chakra is to listen to and trust your intuition. That “gut feeling” that pulls you in a certain direction. The third eye is telling you what is the right way to go. So, don’t be afraid of it, listen and trust it and your life will be abundant from it.
