Heart Chakra: Taking the Mystery Out

The fourth chakra is our heart chakra. This chakra is the bridge between our lower, earthly and higher, spiritual chakras. Ebb & Flow Healing will take you through the main parts of the heart chakra this week. Be sure to read until the end where you will find some valuable suggestions to help you balance your heart at home in between sessions with your lightworker.

Main Characteristics

The Sanskrit word for the heart chakra is anahata. This is where our quest for love resides. The heart dictates how we give and receive love. Our self-love is also housed in the heart. Self-love is extremely important in creating stable and lasting relationships. The heart often presents as a pretty pink or a gorgeous green color. The heart chakra is in the center of our chest on the sternum.

Heart Chakra and Health

The endocrine gland ruled by the heart is the thymus. Our heart chakra also effects the upper back and ribs, arms, lungs, and of course the heart. When our fourth chakra is unbalanced it can cause illness such as bronchitis, asthma, allergies, and heart disorders. You may notice pain or other problems in your back, arms, or hands such as carpal tunnel, when the heart chakra is off balance. Emotional issues that often come from a distorted heart is depression, anxiety, or a lack of empathy. Are you regularly feeling unlovable? Do you often feel rejected by others? Are you giving more to others than to yourself? If you answered yes to any of those questions then you should try some of the following home exercises.

Home Work

The best way to open and balance the heart chakra is to allow in love from yourself and from others. However, if you need an extra boost to get you started, here are some crystals, oils, and simple activities you can utilize to help. Green and pink crystals are most beneficial for the heart chakra. Some examples are rose quartz, green aventurine, peridot and watermelon tourmaline. Pretty, floral smelling essentials oils such as rose, melissa or neroli are great ones to add into your meditations. Bathing yourself in colored lights or wearing clothing of bright greens, pinks, and light reds will also raise the heart chakra’s energy.

Try the following activities at home to find what works best for you. To balance your heart chakra you can get a massage or ask someone you trust to give you a good, strong, silent hug. While meditating allow yourself to feel your emotions, process them and then release. Holding in our emotions is a huge factor in throwing our heart chakra off balance. It is very important to have a way to safely release your emotions. For those of you that love yoga, the raised cobra and fish pose are great ones to use.

However, the most important thing you can do to raise the frequency of your heart is to tell yourself “I love you just as you are right this moment.” I personally write myself a love letter every morning to make my heart happy.
